2012 Game Developers Choice Awards honoring Portal 2, Bastion and Skyrim among others
What games to the game makers respect? Here’s some of the candidates
Though we all know the definitive awards at the end of every year are GamesRadar's Platinum Chalices, we still like to see how other organizations like to rank things. And that includes Game Developers Choice Awards, an event created so developers can honor one another’s achievements. The group released the nominees for the 12th annual awards, and it looks like many devs and players have pretty similar tastes.
Leading the way with five nominations each are Portal 2 and Skyrim, which are both up for Game of the Year, and Supergiant Games and its first title Bastion are also up for five total. The nominees are a mix of famous titles like Batman: Arkham City and Uncharted 3 with lesser known works like El Shaddai and Tiny Tower. You can see the full list of nominees here.
Last year’s biggest winners were Red Dead Redemption and Minecraft, so it’ll be interesting to see what the collective of 500 industry professionals will vote as their favorites this year. The presentation will be March 7 in downtown San Francisco during the annual Game Developers Conference.
