2007 - The best gaming year ever

Blizzard also set RTS fans everywhere (and nowhere moreso than in Korea) ablaze with the official announcement of Starcraft 2. We knew it was coming and you knew it was coming, but the unveiling and subsequent in-game footage was no less exciting for it. Put simply, the game looks stunning and more than worth the near decade-long wait. And Starcraft 2 isn’t the only way in which RTS has had us whooping with delight this year.

We got a much better look at Spore, as well as a chance to play it, and believe us, Will Wright’s everything-simulator delivers. It’s all things to all players, combining creativity, strategy, role playing and God knows what else once you get to the space section in a bright, vibrant, friendly bundle of never-ending gameplay which will delight hardcore gamers and family players equally.

A brilliant, brilliant, eclectic blend of technical prowess and inventive design is what we got in this year’s PC games. It’s a collection that sums up everything that’s great about the format and it's one which can only hint at even better things in the years to come. And an honourable mention must go to the fact that yesterday we finally got a new look at Duke Nukem Forever. Could there be a cooler way to round off a year of fantastic PC gaming?

Of course not. Hail to the king baby!

These days he's an enigmatic blend of beard-stroking narrative discussion and hard-hitting Psycho Crushers.
