Setting new standards for in-game likenesses

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Hi-res face scans for Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom and Depp? Check. Flawlessly motion-captured recreation of the Captain Jack swagger? Yep. Individual strands of hair? Jee-sus. But while the star treatment lavished on the likenesses of Pirates ' leads is impressive enough, what's breathtaking are the bad guys.

We're talking the sort of barnacle-rendering that's never been possible before, with 100 individual characters that you'll be able to chat with, fight or - in extreme cases - hit with special "Captain Jack" moves like a plank in the face or a handful of sand in the gills. The blend of melee combat and individual duels looks solid, so there's only really one question left - just how detailed is virtual Knightley?
