12 Years A Slave and American Hustle win Best Pictures at Golden Globes

Last night’s Golden Globes ceremony saw several of the Oscar frontrunners recognised with awards, as 12 Years A Slave , American Hustle and Gravity all enjoyed a successful evening.

12 Years A Slave and American Hustle won the night’s two biggest awards, scooping Best Picture in the drama and comedy / musical categories respectively, while Alfonso Cuarón was named Best Director for Gravity .

There was however a surprise in the Best Actor (Drama) category, with Matthew McConaughey beating favourite Chiwetel Ejiofor for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club .

Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence both added to the American Hustle haul, while Leonardo DiCaprio also received an acting gong for his work on The Wolf Of Wall Street .

As predicted, Breaking Bad scooped Best TV Series (Drama), with Bryan Cranston also winning an award for his celebrated turn as Walter White.
